Why yes, I do have a slight obsession with serums. I stopped using plain ole’ moisturizer and lotion on my face months ago and have never looked back. To some people, the thought of putting oils on your face sounds like a bad idea. Well if you use the right types, it’s actually super beneficial and WON’T clog your pores. Here’s a list of my fave serums.
You might think 7 different serums sounds like a lot. One for every day of the week! Just kidding. You definitely don’t need seven – you really only need one. But I can’t pick just one, and I like switching it up and giving my skin a variety of nutrients instead of the same ones every day. It also depends on what type of skin you have and what types of oils work best for that.
Acure Organics Moroccan Argan Oil • $13
Skin type: All, especially acne prone or oily skin
Nothing in this except certified organic argan kernel oil. Argan oil is a skin superfood, incredibly rich in vitamin E, essential fatty acids, and proteins. It helps restore texture and tone to your skin as well as moisturize. Non-greasy and non-irritating. Great for people with acne or oily skin because it reduces sebum levels. This is also available at Target and Whole Foods!
Cedar Creek Essentials Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil • $6
Skin type: All, acne prone skin, damaged skin
I found this at a local farmer’s market, so if you’re looking for something similar just search for organic, cold-pressed pumpkin seed oil. It’s really rich in zinc, vitamins A & E, omega fatty acids, and antioxidants. Full of enzymes that exfoliate and encourage cell turnover. Works especially well for aging or damaged skin to help rejuvenate and strengthen. Also helps fight acne and regulate oil levels to help keep your skin clear. I love using this one in the morning before putting on makeup because of how light it feels.
Claire & Maximus Face Serum • $25

Java Skin Care Body Serum • $12
Skin type: All
Well, I was sold the second I found out this had coffee in it! Made with safflower oil, organic argan oil, green coffee, sweet almond oil, pumpkin seed oil, sweet orange blossom, rosemary extract, vitamin E, and siam benzoin extract. Full of antioxidants and helps restore elasticity, hydrate, even skin tone, reduce fine lines, repair damage, prevent moisture loss, reduce inflammation, boost cell turnover, as well as brighten and soften your skin. And it smells SO good!
Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil • $25
Skin type: All, sun damaged skin
Made with organic argan oil, sea buckthorn berry, blueberry extract, pomegranate oil, camu camu berry, broccoli extract, raspberry seed extract, strawberry extract, goji berry, hemp seed extract, grape seed extract, and sunflower seed oil. (see full list of ingredients on their website, there’s actually even more awesome ingredients packed in there than what I listed!) Super hydrating and full of antioxidants to help protect against photoaging. These ingredients also act as a shield for your skin and protect against UV and free radicals. Great for underneath sunscreen or when you know you’ll be outside a lot.
Pure + Radiant Skin Food Serum for Oily Skin • $38
Skin type: Oily or acne-prone skin
The one I use is for Oily skin and contains organic cold pressed hemp seed oil, organic cold pressed evening primrose oil, and lemon essential oil. These ingredients increase skin’s elasticity, heal breakouts, balance natural oil production, slow maturing skin, prevent cell damage, and detox. Love the lemon scent of this one!
Tumerica Natural Facial Repair Serum • $10
Skin type: All, damaged skin
Made with organic turmeric extract, coconut oil, golden jojoba oil, and rosehip oil. Turmeric is so powerful! It cleanses, brightens, offers antioxidants, prevents wrinkles, reduces inflammation, and has anti-aging properties. The other ingredients moisturize, restore, and repair skin damage. This is also one I love using in the morning because of how light it is.
So there you have it! These are my absolute faves. If you try one and find that it’s too oily, try using less. You really only need a little bit. Let me know in the comments if you use a serum and how you like it!
