It’s always refreshing to find brands that mesh eco-friendly practices with low tox ingredients, so that’s why I was super curious to test Attitude’s Oceanly collection—sustainable skincare and cosmetics in zero waste packaging! This post will share more about the brand, products, and my review of a few of ‘em. Let’s look at why Oceanly is making waves in the world of conscious beauty! (see what I did there)

About Attitude’s Oceanly Collection 🌊
Attitude is a Canadian company that was developed by a dad who wanted to make products that were better for our health and the environment. They make a wide range of non-toxic personal care products, including skincare, body, hair, baby, pet, and even household cleaning supplies.
This post will focus on their Oceanly collection, which includes skincare and makeup in sustainable packaging! Some more about it:
- EWG Verified®
- Vegan & cruelty-free
- Dermatologist tested
- Infused with skincare actives
- Ingredients are at least 97% natural origin
- Packaged in recyclable FSC-certified paper
- Biodegradable (the formulas AND the packaging!)
- Makeup uses mineral pigments instead of lake dyes
- Lots of unscented options and nothing has added fragrances

Are all Attitude Oceanly products clean? ✅
Yes, except for the sunscreen ones (tinted SPF cream, tinted shimmer cream, tinted SPF oil), which contain the ingredient butyloctyl salicylate. The concern is that it’s an endocrine disruptor with a similar chemical structure to octisalate (a chemical sunscreen filter) and is used to “boost” SPF because it has UV absorption capabilities.
The SPF lip balm does NOT have butyloctyl salicylate!
Attitude Oceanly Products I Tried & My Thoughts 💭
I haven’t tried everything from Oceanly, but I will review the ones I have used next!
The collection includes cleansers, serums, eye cream, moisturizers, face mask, face scrub, makeup remover, face oils, lip balms, lip glosses, tinted oils, mascara, foundation, blush, bronzer, highlighter, tinted SPF, eyeshadows, and concealer. I was pleasantly surprised at how many products they offer!
Phyto-Calm Face Cream
This was so intriguing to me because you don’t really see solid moisturizers often, which is very unique! Ultimately, I still prefer traditional creams, but it’s a cool concept.
👍 What I like:
- Goes on invisibly
- Moisturizes decently
- Not greasy and has a light, skin-like finish
- Unscented and no essential oils, so it’s ideal for sensitive skin
- I can see this being more helpful for travel or on the go compared to a cream
- Has a lot of nourishing ingredients that are beneficial to skin, such as shea butter and bladderwrack
- I was surprised that it actually applies rather smoothly; I thought it was going to be too hard and rough
👎 What I don’t like:
- Swiping a moisturizer repeatedly onto skin isn’t the most hygienic thing
- Doesn’t sink into skin as well as other moisturizers, like my skin doesn’t feel fully *quenched*
- You kind of have to use a lot, and it takes a bit longer to fully apply; I often have to go over areas more than once. And once applied, you still need to massage it in with your fingers, and it does slightly tug on skin and isn’t the most spreadable
Foundation
Honestly, I’m not crazy about this foundation! The coverage is fairly light and doesn’t conceal bigger blemishes or imperfections, and the application could be better. It’s not bad, but there are other foundation sticks I prefer!
👍 What I like:
- Breathable
- Soft, skin-like finish yet still has a glow
- First ingredient is zinc oxide so you get some sun protection
- Light coverage that looks quite natural once it’s applied and settled
👎 What I don’t like:
- Not a big shade range (I wear shade Nude which matches me okay)
- Can look like it sits on top of skin in certain spots; I’ve noticed some crepiness and creasing in fine lines too
- Takes a while to melt and get going when you start using it (depending on the temperature), and not much swipes on at once, so you might have to make multiple passes in the same spot. When I blend with a brush, I just feel like some of it comes off right away. It can definitely feel dry at first and works better on well-moisturized, exfoliated, smooth skin. Foundation sticks, in general, can be finicky!
Blush
👍 What I like:
- Easy to blend
- Natural, radiant finish
- Shade “Rose” is sooo pretty with a mauve hint!
- Goes on smoother and creamier than the foundation
- Good amount of pigment, payoff, and staying power (but I wouldn’t say it’s highly pigmented)
👎 What I don’t like:
- If you apply this on top of foundation or other makeup, it can wipe away the product underneath. This is common with stick products; I usually swipe them onto a makeup brush first and then apply to cheeks for a softer look! You can also gently tap it onto cheeks.
Bronzer
👍 What I like:
- Easy to blend
- Natural, radiant finish
- Goes on smoother and creamier than the foundation
- Also doubles as a contour stick; I use the edge so it applies in a thinner, more precise line
- Doesn’t apply too heavily pigmented, which I appreciate because it’s easy to overdo it with bronzer (especially if you have lighter skin). I like that I can start subtle and build it darker.
👎 What I don’t like:
- Same note as the blush—it can wipe away makeup underneath
- I have the lightest shade (Golden), but I wish it were cooler-toned because it’s somewhat orangey
Lash Serum Mascara
I’m always a little wary to try low tox mascaras because they can be really hit or miss. I’m happy to report that this one is pretty good! It comes in black, brown, and blue colors. FYI, it’s not waterproof—most natural mascaras aren’t because you need to use harsher synthetic waterproofing ingredients to achieve that!
This is the only Oceanly product that comes in bamboo, not a paper tube. I can’t exactly tell what other materials it has, but it seems like there are some plastic pieces within. I’m sure it has to be cased this way to prevent the mascara from drying out.
👍 What I like:
- Doesn’t irritate my eyes
- I haven’t experienced smudging
- Has a natural look and is buildable
- Removes easily with an oil cleanser
- The silicone brush has tiny spikes, which assist with separating lashes and preventing clumps
- Has a 2-in-1 formula that promotes healthy, fuller lashes (thanks to ingredients like castor oil)
👎 What I don’t like:
- I notice some fallout and minor flaking as the day goes on
- It’s not the boldest or most lengthening at first, so you need to do at least two coats for a more dramatic look

One more thing about the Oceanly products in general is that the product can slip down the tube as you apply it to your skin, so you might need to hold it up with your finger on the bottom of the tube. Also, the caps are somewhat loose. This is likely due to no plastic parts inside to stabilize it or twist in!
Overall, they’re not perfect, especially if you’re a beauty junkie looking for supreme performance. But if you want some minimal, clean, everyday beauty products without the wasteful packaging, you might enjoy them!
