It’s that time of year when you might find yourself endlessly reaching for body lotion. Skin feeling dry, itchy, and parched but your lotion just doesn’t seem to help at ALL? Don’t worry! I have some tried-and-true body lotions that you will LOVE! And the best part: they’re natural and use clean ingredients!

Body Lotion Ingredients to Avoid
Why is it important to choose organic and natural products in the first place? Many conventional lotions and body care products contain ingredients such as:
- Mineral oil
- Synthetic fragrances
I personally avoid these due to their links to hormone/endocrine disruption, contact allergies, and potential carcinogenic properties. Thankfully, we have plenty of choices for cleaner lotions without these ingredients that are actually beneficial for our skin!

Lotions, Oils, Creams, Butters, & Balms…Oh My!
You might be confused by all the options on the market. I don’t blame you! Nowadays we have body lotions, oils, creams, butters, bars, balms…the list goes on.
Whatever you wanna call them, they all essentially do the same thing: provide deep moisture for your skin! 🧴
Ultimately, it’s your preference as to what specific type you want and how dry your skin is. For me, I can’t resist a good body oil that’s slick and doesn’t mess around. But some people prefer a lightweight lotion. Or maybe you use oil in winter and a lotion in summer (that’s what I tend to do!). You do you, and this post has options for all!
How to Get the Most From a Body Lotion/Oil:
First I wanted to give you a PRO TIP when it comes to applying these products. Especially if you feel like your skin is parched no matter how much you use.
The key is to apply body lotions and oils to DAMP skin 💦
This is essential because when your skin is slightly wet, the water is providing hydration. Then when you apply a lotion or oil, it acts as an occlusive and basically seals in all that moisture and prevents TEWL (transepidermal water loss)! Trust me, your skin will be left feeling WAY happier if you try this! And the moisture will last all day long.
The 7 Best Natural Body Lotions & Oils
Now for the good stuff. I have literally tried dozens of body lotions/oils over the years and have narrowed down a list of the absolutely BEST ones for ya!
Aleavia Prebiotic Body Lotions [Great for Sensitive Skin, Budget-Friendly]
Aleavia is known for its microbiome-friendly formulas! They utilize prebiotics to nourish healthy bacteria on the skin’s surface and restore the microbiome. In general, they’re nice for sensitive skin and those with allergies, eczema, or keratosis. This lotion has a denser, *slightly* waxy feel to it compared to most lotions. But it definitely blends in flawlessly and makes skin feel very replenished!

Detox Mode Altogether Oil [Multi-Use & Versatile]
A head-to-toe oil that smells bright, citrusy, and delightful. It rubs in well and doesn’t leave you feeling slimy; it has almost a soft and dry feel for an oil? I mostly use this on my body, but it can also be used for dry hands, cuticles, as a pre-wash hair mask/scalp treatment, or on the ends of hair for moisture and to counteract static!
This oil has really clean ingredients and is infused with jojoba, macadamia, and ginseng. It has a cool and unique spray pump that lightly mists and spritzes you with an ideal amount of oil. I wish more body oils had this spray top because some can pump out quite aggressively!
Kosmatology Lotion Bars [Budget-Friendly, Travel-Friendly, Great for Sensitive Skin]
These guys are so convenient for a quick swipe on and are formulated with organic oils, butters, and waxes! Kosmatology products were developed by a pharmacist and mom for her child with sensitive, eczema-prone skin. The bar is solid but once it touches your skin, it warms up and melts for easy application.
If you’re looking for something more basic (yet still effective), these are great! They’re also ideal for popping in a travel bag (did I mention that Kosmatology also has MINI lotion bars!!). I personally like the Grapefruit bar the best but there are multiple scents, including a Free & Clear Unscented lotion bar made without essential oils.

Lovesong Nectarous Body Cream [Sustainable Packaging, Becca’s Top Lotion Pick!]
The word “nectarous” means extremely pleasing, delightful, delicate, and fragrant. I’d say that’s true of this body lotion! It smells INTOXICATING but in the best way (extracts of rose de Mai, jasmine, and vanilla). I cannot get over it. It’s a water-based lotion and feels lightweight and not greasy or oily, but it still melts into skin and feels super nourishing (it does contain oils so it feels way more luxurious than most lotions!). This lotion glides around nicely and feels soooooo silky on my skin!
I tend to gravitate towards this one in the warmer months and when my skin doesn’t need as much moisture because it’s so light, but don’t be fooled, it’s still moisturizing enough for the drier months!
Lovesong uses all non-GMO and vegan ingredients, as well as some certified organic ones such as organic jojoba oil, shea butter, and aloe vera. It’s great for restoring, plumping, firming, and healing skin. Bonus points because this comes in a recyclable aluminum bottle! ♻️

Osea Anti-Aging Body Balm [Becca’s Top Overall Pick!]
If a body oil and a lotion had a baby, this would be it! What constantly draws me to this one is how UNIQUE the texture is; it’s like a soft serum that isn’t as heavy as an oil, but offers way more moisture than a lotion. It makes my skin feel sooooooo supple and happy. The smell is pretty mild with notes of warm jasmine, geranium, and citrus undertones.
This is one I can totally use year-round because it’s the perfect combo of lightweight yet moisture-rich 👌 And I do feel like it makes my skin noticeably more firm and smooth.
Of the three Osea products in this post, I personally love and recommend this one the most! It’s the easiest to apply and rubs in faster compared to the body butter and oil. It’s just so beautiful and silky. Seriously, you need to try it! (they have small 1 oz. sizes too)

Osea Undaria Algae Body Butter [Not your average body butter!]
This one is so good that it keeps selling out! I, for one, see what the hype is about! It smells like an orange creamsicle and is the perfect texture; more oomf than a lotion, and no residue like a body oil. It has Undaria seaweed to replenish skin’s barrier, shea butter for deep moisture, ceramides for barrier support, and amino acids for supple and toned skin.
To be honest, I’m not usually a body butter type of girl. I’ve just used some in the past that are way too waxy or stiff. This one is a game-changer! I’m obsessed with the rich, buttery texture. You can also get this in a smaller 1.7 oz. size to try it out! 🧈

Osea Undaria Algae Body Oil [Luxe Splurge!]
Are you sensing a theme here 😆 What can I say, Osea has amazing body care products! First of all, the smell of this one is UNREAL; it has passion fruit and grapefruit and literally smells like fruity candy. It’s super rich and is packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals thanks to the Undaria Algae. Despite it being an oil, I don’t feel like it leaves my skin greasy and it actually soaks in pretty well. It leaves your skin with a healthy glow, too! ✨
It’s a higher price point but it’s truly luscious and a bottle lasts me a really long time. Osea also offers a smaller 1 oz. size of this oil if you want to try it first without committing to a full size.
