Teva Ayurvedic Clarifying Shampoo

Would you be totally grossed out if I told you that I only wash my hair like once or twice a week? Well, it’s true. But when I do wash my hair, I make sure to use non-toxic shampoo! And today I want to introduce you to a brand called Teva that makes organic, ayurvedic products, including a clarifying shampoo.

First of all, they did send me this shampoo to try and review honestly, but I am not being paid to post this.

I was sent the Organic Color Safe Clarifying Shampoo. I can’t get over how clean the ingredients are, it’s one of the purest shampoos I’ve come across:

(100% ORGANIC/wildcrafted), AVM(Aloe/Vitamin/Sea Mineral Blend, Organic Oils of: Jojoba, Coconut, Grape Seed, Apricot & Evening Primrose; Apple Cider Vinegar, Organic herbal extracts of: Sage, Rosemary, Burdock, Horsetail, Oregano, Thyme, Lavender, Peppermint, Goldenseal, Cinnamon, and Lemon Peel; plant sourced kosher vegan xanthan gum & potassium sorbate; Organic Essential Oils of Grapefruit, Orange, Rosemary & Litsea Cubeba.

You might notice that this has apple cider vinegar in it. That seemed really weird to me at first, but ACV is actually super beneficial for hair! It balances the natural oils in your hair and doesn’t strip the oils either. It also helps with frizz and removes excess buildup from synthetic products. Apple cider vinegar also makes your hair stronger, shinier, and prevents split ends.

To be honest, the first time I tried it, it didn’t totally work for me. I have very thick hair and since this isn’t a conventional shampoo that has oil-stripping and foaming ingredients (like sodium lauryl sulfate), it was a different experience than normal shampoo. BUT…

I reached out to Teva and the owner, Deb, told me that I likely had hard water buildup which was causing my hair to still look oily even after shampooing.

To get rid of the buildup, Deb instructed me to mix 1/4 cup of the shampoo with more apple cider vinegar and baking soda, and divide that into 2 wash cycles. It worked like magic because my hair felt SO incredibly clean and soft after. I only had to do this once and then could return to using the shampoo like normal.

So since I totally love how clean this shampoo makes my hair feel, I teamed up with Teva to set up a discount code for you so that you can try any Teva product at a discounted price! Just use the code ORGANICALLYBECCA at checkout for 15% off your order.

  1. Thanks for the review! Would this brand work for men as well or is there a different brand shampoo for men that you would recommend?
