The Well Rounded: Becca’s Quarterly Top Picks [Volume 7 • Spring 2023]

Spring has sprung and Volume 7️⃣ of the Well Rounded series is here! 🌷 Each quarter I like to give you guys updates on new products I’ve been testing and grabbing over and over again. Whether it’s sustainable fashion, wellness-related, clean beauty, or natural skincare. I aim to include a fun variety for the season, so let’s take a look at what’s been #OrganicallyBeccaApproved lately!

This post contains affiliate links. Some of these products were gifted to me for PR consideration with no obligation to share. Trust me, I only share the good stuff with ya!

Btw, if you missed the last Volume 6 from winter, you can check it out here!

1. Aleavia Purifying Facial Cleanser

I love using a gel cleanser in the shower since it’s kinda tricky to use an oil cleanser! As you may know, I’ve been majorly scaling back my skincare routine and focusing on gentle products and skin barrier repair. Aleavia is an awesome brand for sensitive skin because they make prebiotic, microbiome-friendly formulas with minimal ingredients.

Aleavia Purifying Facial Cleanser

This cleanser uses only 7 ingredients (no essential oils or fragrances) and balances the skin’s pH levels. I like how well it lathers with water and gently removes makeup, too! It’s good for all skin types and my skin loves it! You can also get the cleanser in a smaller travel size if you want to sample it.

(One caveat is that it contains sea salt, so try not to get it in your eyes as it can sting!)

2. Poppins Period Magnesium Mist

(The brand was formerly Bloody Buddy!)

You guys know I can’t live without my menstrual cup, so I was thrilled when the same brand launched a magnesium spray! This is a mist that you apply topically to your belly, torso, legs, arms, feet, etc. It looks oily but it will not leave a residue or stain clothes after you rub it in.

Magnesium is responsible for activating over 300 cellular, biochemical reactions in our bodies and helps regulate calcium, potassium, and sodium. Deficiency used to be considered rare, but nowadays about 80% of people have low magnesium levels! Whoa.

Applying it topically is an easy way to keep your levels up! Magnesium can help alleviate PMS symptoms such as cramping, control inflammation/pain, relax muscles, and has a natural calming effect. I like to use it at night before bed, but it’s especially helpful during my period for cramping or aches!

3. Boody Eco Padded Shaper Bra

I actually bought one of these bras years ago, but ended up grabbing another one recently because I like it so much! These are INCREDIBLY comfortable, yet provide adequate support and coverage. Seriously, it doesn’t even feel like you’re wearing a bra. It has removable padding, NO wires, stretchy movable fabric, and isn’t too tight around the ribcage. And it’s seamless underneath clothes!

Boody Bamboo Clothing

Boody is a sustainable brand that uses mostly organically-grown bamboo for its material! They are OEKO-TEX certified and focus on fair trade, ethical, and responsible business practices. Not crazy expensive, either!

4. Femometer Fertility Tracker + BBT Thermometer

Where are my fellow natural birth control girlies? 🙋‍♀️ I do have a more in-depth blog post about this, but I’ll share about this quickly! I was previously using a Kindara BBT (basal body temperature) thermometer and app to track my cycle. However, the app stopped working and I’m not sure they’re in business anymore. So I researched a BUNCH of new options and landed on Femometer!

How to Use the Fertility Awareness Method for Birth Control & Best BBT Thermometer

In a nutshell, I take my temperature underneath my tongue right away in the morning after waking up. It syncs with the app where you can also track details about your period, symptoms, cervical mucus, etc. The app helps you visualize everything in a chart view and offers insight into your cycle. If you’re not familiar with the Fertility Awareness Method, you can confirm ovulation has taken place when your BBT rises consistently!

I’ve been using it for a couple of cycles and I’m super happy with it so far! I use the Vinca 2.0 thermometer, but they also sell a cheaper, basic one that doesn’t sync with the app (you would just have to enter it manually).

5. FitGlow Redness Rescue Cream

Winter was HARSH on my skin this year and I’ve had more redness than usual, so this was very intriguing to me! Similar to FitGlow’s Correct+ concealer, this is a cream that has a natural green mineral tint that counteracts red hues. It’s formulated with wakame seaweed extract, comfrey, calendula, and chamomile which are ultra-soothing, calming, and protect skin from environmental stressors.

FitGlow Redness Rescue Cream

It’s a bit different than what you might expect—you’re supposed to apply it AFTER your moisturizer. It also doubles as a makeup primer because it’s kind of mattifying and makes a really smooth base on skin. You can use it alone as a moisturizer, but I personally don’t find it to be moisturizing enough on its own, so I like to apply it after my regular moisturizer (such as the Maya Chia Naked oil listed below!).

But it really DOES reduce redness and even out my skin tone! I particularly like it on “no makeup” days because it doesn’t look or feel like makeup, but it just evens everything out beautifully and controls shine 👍

6. Han Pressed Blush Powder

If you’re looking for *the* perfect spring blush, look no further! I have been obsessed with Han’s “Coral Candy” shade of blush! It’s a coral peach pink with a slight gold shimmer. It’s soooo pigmented and has great payoff; you barely need to tap with a brush to get a lot of color. The blush itself has a soft finish to it and is somewhat blurring.

Han Pressed Blush in Coral Candy

The best part? It’s only $18 bucks and uses all paper packaging (it’s curbside recyclable)!

7. Maya Chia Super Naked Face Oil

Another product that I’ve been using during my “skin reset” phase! This is a splurge, but wow, it’s WONDERFUL! It’s only 4 ingredients and is free of essential oils, making it ideal for sensitive skin. The key components are organic chia oil and organic virgin plum oil which are nutrient-dense and packed with antioxidants and fatty acids. It’s very nourishing and supports barrier function.

In addition, it’s an ultra-lightweight, fast-absorbing oil so even if you use 4-6 drops, it won’t leave you looking or feeling greasy. There is almost a dry feel to it. And btw, the smell is intoxicating—it reminds me of fruity Starburst candy!

8. Silicone Scalp Massager

Where has this been all my life?! It’s a soft medical-grade silicone scalp massager that exfoliates and wipes away excess oils and dead skin. I use it while shampooing and it feels AMAZING (who doesn’t love a scalp massage?!). Since I only wash my hair about once a week, I need something to help clarify and degunkify; this totally helps.

Mounia Silicone Scalp Massager

If you have dandruff or flaking, you absolutely need this. Using a scalp massager can also help promote healthy hair growth and boost shine!
