An all-natural marketplace by all Black artisans, owned by a woman (Dr. Kristian E.) and based in New York. They have a 4-part approval process that evaluates ingredients, sourcing, effectiveness, and branding before allowing products into their marketplace. They stock bath, body, beauty, wellness, hair, home, and baby products.

The Choosy Chick is one of my favorite stores! As the name suggests, the founder Margot White is very picky about the products she carries. You can find natural items for the whole family at her shop, which ships from Dallas. I love supporting her brand.

The Clean Beauty Box Store

The Clean Beauty Box is a bi-monthly subscription curated service (it’s awesome!). But they also have a section on their website where you can purchase individual products, not on a subscription. I totally love that they have a section that lists all the Black-owned brands they carry. You’ll mostly find skin and body care products, but there are also some hair and makeup items, too. If you’re a subscriber, then you can get 15% off the store. Woman-owned by Claire Molyneaux.

Credo Beauty

Credo is the LARGEST clean beauty retailer (they are based in San Francisco) and has been around since 2015. Co-founded by Annie Jackson, and 90% of brands they carry are led by women, so cool! They have a “Dirty List” of over 2,700 banned ingredients and a portion of each purchase is donated to Lipstick Angels, a non-profit organization that provides personalized, oncology-sensitive beauty and skincare services to cancer patients. Credo also has a specific section of their site where you can shop BIPOC-owned brands!

The Detox Market

Founded by Romain Gaillard in 2010, The Detox Market is another large clean beauty retailer with strict ingredient standards. They also have a monthly subscription box called The Detox Box that usually features one brand and at least $90 worth of product. It’s a good one and they are one of my go-to stores. They are based in California.

Wisconsin’s first clean beauty retail store, owned by a mother-daughter duo Audra and Christian. They are soooooo lovely! All of their products follow European standards and beyond, meaning over 1,300+ ingredients are avoided. Maybe I’m biased because they’re local to me, but I love supporting them! So I am all about supporting small businesses, but I get it, sometimes you want to play around with products in person or shop somewhere that’s more convenient for you. Thankfully, larger retailers are starting to hop on the clean beauty craze and carry natural brands which makes them more accessible. Here are some options:
